An Electical Engineer I is responsible for the design and development of powersport vehicle and engine electrical and electronic systems and components. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Help ensure that the electrical and electronic systems on every Arctic Cat product to meet or exceed design requirements for performance and reliability.
  2. Work with Group Leader and other personnel to establish specifications and design requirements for new or revised designs for electrical systems and components.
  3. Design and/or specification responsibility may include the following components and systems:
    1. Electric start systems
    2. Mechanical actuation systems
    3. Electronic gauges and displays
    4. Electronic test systems
    5. Sensors
    6. Actuators
    7. Wiring harnesses
    8. Other duties as assigned.
  4. Work with in-house personnel and Suppliers to create new designs, procure samples, and report the progress of sample testing and evaluation.
  5. Provide sketches of proto components and/or assemblies for accurate layout.
  6. Review and analyze layouts and detailed drawings for accuracy.
  7. Assist test lab personnel with test item procurement and test instrumentation set-up.
  8. Write test requests, oversee the execution of related lab and field testing, analyze and reduce the test data, draw conclusions, make recommendations about the Test/Validation status of the component or system being tested, and document test results in technical reports.
  9. Schedule and lead design reviews on projects when applicable.
  10. Assist Quality Control and Production Engineering personnel with electrical system inspection and assembly.
  11. Assist Purchasing personnel with component procurement and supplier selection.
  12. Assist Group Leader in developing capital equipment budget for electrical test equipment and research instrumentation.
  13. Assist the BOM Coordinator in the development and accuracy of Bills of Material (BOMs) and Engineering Change Notice (ECNs).
  14. Work with outside suppliers to develop new technologies and/or cost reductions for electrical and electronic systems.
  15. Support the development of service manuals and part books.
  16. Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive designs, costing, test data, prototype models and product plans.
  17. Stay abreast of the latest electronics technologies, computer design systems and programs, material development, tooling, design aids, and manufacturing processes applicable to company products.
  18. Continually review designs for cost effectiveness, manufacturing improvements and increased quality.
  19. Identify new ideas, products and/or features that improve customer satisfaction, reduce costs, and keep our product lines at the forefront of the industry.
  20. Apply concurrent engineering techniques on all projects. Work and communicate closely and well with team members from engineering and other functional areas.
  21. Participate in and encourage the highest level of quality, efficiency and professionalism with co-workers. 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 

    1. BS degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
    2. 0+ years experience in on- or off-road vehicle electronics design.
    3. Proficient in verbal and written communications and capable of using PC based spreadsheet and word processing systems.
