An Engine Design Engineer will design and analyze engine components, subsystems, and assemblies for new and existing engines for Arctic Cat's ATV and ROV product lines.

* This position can be located in St. Cloud, MN or Thief River Falls, MN.

1. Work with the Product Team Manager and other personnel to establish specifications and design requirements for new or revised designs for engines and components.
2. Design and analyze layouts, components, and detail drawings for ATV/ROV engines through coordination with Product Team Manager and design team. Apply drawing tolerances using spec limits and GD&T, and perform accurate tolerance stack-up analyses.
3. Ensure completeness and accuracy of all CAD work, and maintain well-organized records. Utilize 3D modeling software (Siemens NX or Pro/E) to produce models and drawings, and/or work with CAD designers to produce 3D models and drawings of new and revised designs.
4. Perform analysis and calculations for engine component designs using computer-based analysis and simulation techniques which may include FEA, CFD, and dynamic simulation tools.
5. Research and recommend material options for the design.
6. Schedule and lead design reviews on projects when applicable.
7. Provide efficient and timely completion of all drawings, calculations, bills of materials, and cost objectives according to project schedules.
8. Assist Product Team Manager in development of timelines on projects.
9. Develop and oversee prototyping plans for new parts and engines. Work closely with Purchasing and suppliers and in-house departments to procure and fabricate prototype parts in a timely manner, to support project schedules for engine builds.
10. Participate in and oversee the assembly of prototype parts and engines, to ensure the accurate build of prototype and tooled engines.
11. Work closely with development and test engineers to create appropriate Test and Validation plans for new and revised designs. Monitor and participate in the timely execution of those test plans to ensure high reliability and performance that meet or exceed the design requirements.
12. Assist the BOM Coordinator in the development and accuracy of Bills of Material (BOMs) and Engineering Change Notice (ECNs).
13. Support the development of service manuals and part books.
14. Maintain confidentiality and security of sensitive designs, costing, test data, prototype models and product plans.
15. Stay abreast of the latest engine technologies, computer design systems and programs, material development, tooling, design aids, and manufacturing processes applicable to company products.
16. Continually review designs for cost effectiveness, manufacturing improvements and increased quality.
17. Identify new ideas, products and/or features that improve customer satisfaction, reduce costs, and keep our ATV/ROV product lines at the forefront of the industry.
18. Apply concurrent engineering techniques on all projects. Work and communicate closely and well with team members from engineering and other functional areas.
19. Participate in and encourage the highest level of quality, efficiency and professionalism with co-workers.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
1. Proficient with Siemens NX and/or Pro-E CAD software for 3D modelling.
2. Knowledgeable in engine analysis and calculations using computer-based simulation and analysis tools.
3. Capable of developing descriptive geometry, auxiliary views, projections, sectioning, and tolerancing on engineering drawings
4. Self-motivated and punctual.

1. BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely-related curriculum, from an ABET-accredited university
2. Previous engine design experience, preferably with 10 or more years working with 4-stroke gasoline engines. Knowledge of diesel engines and 2-stroke gasoline engines is also helpful.
3. Strong knowledge of 4-stroke engine design, development, testing, and implementation.
4. Proficient in verbal and written communications and capable of using PC based spreadsheet and word processing systems.
5. Possess riding and evaluation skills for ATV and ROV powersports vehicles.
